Branch Office Profile
The Merrill Lynch Pacific Islands Complex has been serving the financial needs of clients in our area for more than 40 years. Our complex is comprised of four unique office locations in Honolulu, Kona, Hilo and Guam, and a recognized market leader supports us with a corporate history dating back over 100 years. With access to award-winning world-class research, more than 700 top analysts in more than 20 countries, best-in-class products and services and cutting-edge technology, we can provide thoughtful advice and guidance on a broad range of wealth management concerns.
Our financial advisors take a holistic, goals-based approach to wealth management that seeks to transform you from merely having objectives to actively pursuing them. To us, wealth management is much more than a series of portfolio transactions. It is a disciplined process carried out over years, even decades. We take a client-centric approach, listening carefully to what you tell us to form a complete picture of your current financial situation and your goals for the future. Working together, we then help you develop strategies that are tailored to your objectives and address needs that you may not have even realized you had. Our goal is to be your financial advisor for all the seasons of your financial life—whether you are still accumulating wealth, enjoying your retirement or considering how to transfer your wealth to future generations.
We interact with a network of specialists from Merrill Lynch to explore ideas that we believe will bring value to your financial life, such as Retirement Outcome Specialists, Insurance and Trust Specialists and access to ‘Wealth Management Banker from Bank of America, N.A.’
Many of our advisors are native to the islands and we believe in giving back to our communities. It is our way of saying ‘mahalo’ or thank you. Our pledge to our neighbors extends to supporting organizations such as the Hawaii Economic Council and Rotary International.
We encourage our associates to embody the Merrill Lynch principal of Responsible Citizenship and support them as they volunteer and help raise money for causes they care about. In 2006, our complex proudly received the Lei Hulu Award from Honolulu Mayor Hannemann, recognizing our dedication to our community.
Established in 1969, our Honolulu office is the largest in our complex. Backed by the resources of a global wealth management company, these advisors serve the complex wealth management and investment needs of affluent individuals and families, professionals, small business owners, military personnel, and a select group of institutional clients. Our success and growth is due mainly to the referrals we receive and our presence in the community. Among other philanthropic activities, our associates help raise money to buy much needed supplies for our local schools, homeless and women’s shelters.
The Kona office is home to several financial advisors, most of who are native Hawaiian, and some who have been with Merrill Lynch for more than 20 years. Due to the office’s remote location, the advisors collaborate closely with clients’ other professional advisors and are proud of their remarkable cohesion and camaraderie. The island is best known for its cultural and recreational sites, and clients of the Kona office include high-net-worth individuals and their families.
Boasting a great location and a small island atmosphere, the financial advisors in Hilo are mostly local, seasoned veterans, one of who has been with the Firm more than 35 years. They are intertwined in the community and their clients include individuals and institutions from the education and agricultural industries.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary with Merrill Lynch, our Guam office is “Where America’s Day Begins.” Most of the financial advisors in our Guam office are natives, and they have invested time in furthering their education, earning credentials such as the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification awarded by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. and Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®) designation that contribute to their knowledge.
