David Lum, CFP® CRPC®, has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the financial services industry and has been a financial advisor since 1988. He is currently a member of Merrill Lynch's Circle of Excellence, one of the Firm's top recognition levels for their financial advisors. David was recently honored to be named by the firm to help represent Merrill Lynch at Barron's 2013 Top Advisors Diversity Conference held in Atlanta, GA and in January of 2014, he was appointed to the firm’s National Diversity Champions Network, a mentoring position for diverse financial advisors throughout the firm.
David has a degree in finance from St. John's University in New York. Throughout his career he has worked for major Wall Street firms and today, at Merrill Lynch his clientele consists mainly of affluent retirees and successful professionals.
David is also a leading advocate of estate planning. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with his clients' legal and accounting professionals to assist in the development of efficient estate succession strategies designed to minimize the impact of estate taxes and to facilitate control.
Originally from New York, David has been a Florida resident since 1987 and lives in Palm City, Florida with his wife and two children. He is active in the community having been on the boards of the local chapters of Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Salvation Army and the Martin County Chapter of the American Red Cross. Currently, David serves on the board of the First Tee of The Treasure Coast, a youth development organization that teaches core values through the sport of golf.
